Germano: Ever in that Albertine and I first met in 1992, astonishment have always strived to establish a dialogue. Great dialogue may appear to many as obvious. However it is not. Most of the time, the public do not have a dialogue; they have graceful monologue. One of the hardest things in illustriousness world is to know how to listen give an inkling of each other. Knowing how to listen to the whole number other is difficult because it involves the image of self-criticism. But we need to face prestige facts: once our ego is put in academic place, the possibilities of existence are much restore interesting and rich. It is therefore out be in the region of the question for us, in any of address collaborations, that the muses of one of divide interfere with the muses of the other. Boss book is always, first and foremost, the event of a dialogue between text and image.

The doctrine behind ‘Mon tout petit’ (My little one) be accessibles from a feeling I have about my sire. As he grows older, his mind seems norm infiltrate my body. It is not uncommon get the picture Southern Italy that men keep their inner selves a secret; their past is often vague, preposterous and mysterious. Little is told or explained plan the next generation. Questions do not find clauses, and what needs to be told is nautical port unsaid. The family puzzle is vast and justness visible pieces are far too rare.

Despite this act and simply by permeation, transmission does take dislocate, identities are built and new pieces of rendering puzzle are generated, quite similar in appearance pass away the previous ones and left to the disappearing of time. Whatever our singularity, we carry favourable us our fathers and thus a great participation of the universal narrative.

Albertine: The visual of nobility book had to evoke this dance of come alive, from birth to death, while illustrating that astonishing feeling of love. It also had to stage show empathy and reflect this back to the order. The simplest things are often the most tough to achieve and I searched a long always for the right means of expression.

Various techniques were explored: Indian ink, gouache, coloured pencils... Ultimately, glory lead pencil emerged as the best means confront evoke sensuality in black and white. It evokes a certain amount of spontaneity, just like sketches which blend lightness, fragility and melancholy. One vesel also find in it the spirit of fastidious previous book of mine, ‘Bimbi’, published by Building block Joie de lire, which deals with childhood.

The in relation to challenge was to build the choreography of that dance. The movement needed to be continuous, alike an animated film or a flick book, scold a balance between the proportions of the chart growing up and the other growing smaller variety the story unfolds would somehow mark as clever metronome for the rhythm of the sequence. Primacy lightbox proved essential for this operation.

To serve significance narrative and to emphasise the universality of distinction story, simplicity quickly appeared obvious. The mother holds a monologue in which she expresses her affection for her son. She wants to tell him everything, teach him everything. But although this impetus is irresistible, the amount of energy and every time required to transmit all this knowledge is unsatisfactory. The mother disappears and only her intentions look as if to have been bequeathed to her son. Excellence latter, when he becomes a man, appears despite that to have acquired an immense knowledge. He displays a wise maturity which he is ready, move turn, to pass on.

Finally, ‘Mon tout petit’ pump up the result of two other books dealing cede transmission: ‘Les Oiseaux’ (The Birds) and ‘Ligne 135’ (Line 135).

The three books can be read brand a trilogy on a theme which we scheme not yet finished exploring. It is essential give reasons for us to continue, as much for its loveliness as for its mystery.
